How I work and what this means for you
I, Liz, get to be your personal confidant and sounding board for whatever thoughts and feelings you are experiencing.
The best feedback I get from the humans who come to me for therapy is when they come in for the first couple of sessions and tell me how nice it is to have someone in their life who has no judgment and no personal impact on their life/situation. That is a part of therapy many people don't consider.
I use a strength-based approach, which means I believe that you are the expert on your life, and I am here to help you navigate, reflect and understand yourself/situation better. If you are looking for positive change and don’t know where to start, therapy is a great place to begin because we can work on figuring that out together, and the overwhelm may feel a little smaller as therapy goes on. I am trauma-informed, which means I will not pressure you or force you down a path you are not prepared to go. I will, however, be direct in my communication and make sure we have a strong therapeutic relationship, so you feel secure enough to talk about whatever is on your mind.
I also use a therapy technique called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). It is a form of therapy that can help make past situations that feel heavy in your body and mind feel lighter. Personally, I wanted to be trained and offer a therapy technique that was more body-oriented because talk therapy sometimes can only get you so far. Sometimes the body needs help processing situations too, and that is what EMDR does.
At the end of the day, everyone deserves someone who will listen and acknowledge how hard it is to be human sometimes. Therapy doesn’t promise 100% happiness, but it should provide ways to make the harder times a little easier.

I am the eldest daughter, the keeper of peace, the one who sees the best in people. All these make me a great therapist, but when you apply these qualities in everyday life, sometimes it can make navigating relationships difficult. It's hard to be the person who takes care of everyone but who takes care of you? That person has wonderful potential, but do they treat you the best, and are they into the life you would like?
I never went to therapy because I thought I had enough people in my life that I could talk to. But having a sounding board that was just for me and not having to worry about holding space for the other person I am talking to is the best!
Best Piece of Advice I received: “One day at a time.” (Being patient is hard)
A fun fact about me: I know how to juggle!
If you could be in any movie, what would it be, and what character would you play? Princess Mia from Princess Diaries! She is so brave and kind, but also… a royal closet? Say no more.
