The heaviest thing you're carrying right now might be the belief that you have to keep carrying it alone. You don't.

  • The relationship that ended and still lives rent-free in your body, years later

  • The childhood you've intellectually processed but that still shows up in how you love, how you fight, how you disappear

  • The anxiety that looks like perfectionism from the outside and feels like drowning from the inside

  • Grief that doesn't follow a timeline, for a person, a life you thought you'd have, a version of yourself you lost along the way

  • The slow erosion of self that happens after years in a relationship that made you question your own reality

  • The postpartum months nobody prepared you for, the loneliness, the loss of identity, the love that coexists with overwhelm

  • Burnout that's gone past tired into something that feels like disappearing

  • The family estrangement everyone has an opinion about except the person actually living it- you

    • CCC covered by most insurance providers

  • We believe in keeping things real, authentic, and human. We take a relational, attachment, and trauma approach to therapy. Every therapy sessions starts with listening and getting to know you, and ends with something you can take home.

  • The Therapeutic Way has been known for deep, specialized work in narcissistic abuse recovery, relational trauma, and attachment wounds since our founding in Burlington, Ontario. We've spent years building a reputation for the kind of care that's hard to find and clients kept telling us they wished they had access to it closer to home.

Calgary brought us here. We saw a real and growing need for specialized trauma and relationship therapy in Alberta and a gap in culturally responsive care for the diverse communities that make NW Calgary home. We didn't open in Calgary because it was convenient. We came because the need was real, and because we knew we could help.

  • Many of our clients who come to therapy struggle with setting boundaries in their relationships. Over time, they learn to communicate their needs clearly and feel more confident saying no. Therapy gave me the tools to rebuild my confidence, set boundaries, and reconnect with who I really am.

Healing from Relationship Trauma: What Therapy Can Look Like

  • The couples we see often feel disconnected or trapped in recurring conflicts with their partners. We support them in enhancing communication, rebuilding trust, and rediscovering a meaningful and balanced relationship.

Couples Therapy: Rebuilding Connection and Trust

  • Our clients feel overwhelmed and confused after experiencing emotional manipulation. We guide them in healing from past trauma, establishing strong boundaries, and regaining their sense of self-worth and autonomy.

    Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Therapy

  • Therapy can help you make sense of the patterns you keep repeating and the anxiety that feels hard to explain. Many clients share that, over time, they begin to recognize what’s truly theirs to carry — and what’s not. The process helps them feel more grounded, calm, and confident in their own lives

Therapy for Healing from Attachment Wounds

  • Our clients often feel conflicted and uncertain about estrangement from their family. Soma have shared " I’ve learned to stay true to myself without guilt or shame." We help them navigate these emotions, establish boundaries, and find peace, whether they decide to reconnect or move forward independently.

Some insurance companies cover the designations of Canadian Certified Counsellor and Counselling Therapist.

Canadian Certified Counsellors and Counselling Therapists may be covered by:

    • Equitable Life

    • Greenshield

    • SunLife

    • ASEBP

    • Blue Cross (select plans)

  • There are many different types of therapist that you can choose from. Before reaching out to a therapist, it’s important to know what issue you would like to work on. A tip is to seek out a therapist who specializes in the issue and problem you are facing with, instead of a generalist.

It is also important to decide what type of therapist you are looking for, such as gender, experience, their approaches to therapy, etc. It’s also a good idea to check with your insurance provider which type of therapist they cover. A lot of therapists offer free consultation calls for you to decide if they are a right fit.

At The Therapeutic Way, we specializes in relationship issues, relational trauma, narcissistic abuse recovery, and attachment wounds. We work with adults, couples, and families.

  • The type of therapy that is best for you, depends on you as a person and the reason you are seeking therapy. There are different types of therapy, such as somatic-based therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, trauma-informed therapies, holistic therapy, existential therapy, and more. The type of therapy that is right for you will depend what you are looking for. While you may have an input in this, majority of the time the therapist will know what is best suited for you and will let you know.

At The Therapeutic Way, we work with clients using an integrative approach to therapy, meaning using different modalities to suit your needs. We use a trauma-informed, holistic, and relational approach to working with you. Click here to learn more.

  • The difference between psychotherapist, psychologist, and psychiatrist, depends on education and scope of practice.

Psychotherapist, psychologist, and psychiatrist can provide therapy called talk therapy.

A psychotherapist can provide therapy under the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario, a psychologist can provide therapy under the College of Psychologists of Ontario, and a psychiatrist can provide therapy under College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

    Difference:

Psychotherapist Education: Master’s Degree or higher

    Psychologist Education: PhD or PsyD.

    Psychiatrist: MD

    ————

    Psychotherapist: Can’t diagnose

Psychologist: Can do assessment and diagnose

Psychiatrist: Can do assessment, diagnose, and prescribe medication

    ————

Psychotherapist Training: Counselling and focus on therapy techniques

Psychologist: Focus on clinical research and assessment

Psychiatrist: Use medical treatment such as prescribing medications for mental health conditions

Before seeking help, it’s important to know what you need and are seeking. A consultation call can help you decide.

At The Therapeutic Way, we are registered psychotherapists with the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario.

  • The term psychotherapy and counselling are often used interchangeably with some slight differences. Psychotherapy refers to the treatment based for psychological disorders and mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc. Counselling refers to wellness support and providing insights and clarity which leads to growth or personal betterment.

At The Therapeutic Way, we provide both psychotherapy and counselling.

  • Online therapy is as effective as in person therapy. What is most important with any format of therapy is having a strong therapeutic relationship between you and your therapist. Online therapy is a good option when coming in-person is not feasible, when you have dependents at home, and it is also more convenient.

At The Therapeutic Way, we offer online therapy and therapy by phone from the convenience of your home. Click here to learn more about our online therapy.
